I have never seen cards in phoneboxes where I live. However I have seen them in Westminster.

Well, as I was heading to do my food shop today, I was walking down the high street looking at the posters on the street walls. Wondering what concerts were on, in the next few months.

For the first time ever, I saw a huge poster, and it was an escort agency advertising their girls.

I could not believe what I was seeing, blatant, on the high street.

If Boris Johnson is going to try and block all escort mobile phones for the Olympics; he needs to get his team to get those posters down.

This scandal with Eliot Spitzer could not have been easy for Ashley Dupre. I am struck by how young Ashley Dupre is, twenty two years old.

I can see that Diane Sawyer is struggling to understand how and why Ashley Dupre became an escort. This is a line that some women will never cross.

I think that there are some women who start off by saying that, but life being what it is, some women find themselves making choices they never believed they could.

Who would have imagined a governor who was also a prosecutor, would use an escort service, in a state where prostituion is illegal?

Jacqui Smith said she expected to see some lapdancing clubs, which have mushroomed in recent years, close and fewer new ones opened under reforms triggered by concerns over a seedy culture of sexual titillation creeping across city centres. She will outline plans this week to criminalise paying for sex with a woman 'controlled for another person's gain'. The new offence will carry a hefty fine and criminal record, which could prevent those caught from getting jobs in sensitive occupations.

The legislation will cover women who have pimps or drug addicts who work to pay off their dealers as well as the rarer cases of trafficked women. This is expected to include the majority of Britain's 80,000 sex workers. Ignorance of a woman's circumstances will not be a defence. Kerb crawlers will be 'named and shamed', while those who pay a prostitute knowing she has been forcibly trafficked could face rape charges.

The measures are highly controversial, with critics arguing that men will seek other outlets if prostitution is driven off the streets. Smith said it was 'not mine or the government's responsibility to ensure that the demand is satisfied', adding: 'Is this something about which people have a choice with respect to their demands? Yes, they do. Basically, if it means fewer people are able to go out and pay for sex I think that would be a good thing.'

I have just read Sarah Summer's hilarious post on the glory of the outcall. One of the things I love about Sarah is her ability to laugh at some of these situations. I think she is a saint, with some of the stuff that she puts up with from clients. I think she raises an important point when she says

when you have travelled thirty miles plus, and have to travel back the same mileage, you sometimes go through with it rather than cut your losses and retain your dignity.

It reminds me of the time I went on an outcall ,which I discussed in the risks that clients who see escorts take and getting caught in the act post.

I remember going to see a client in his home, and as he opened the door I started sneezing. I am sensitive to dust, and his place had obviously not been cleaned in months. I sat down on the sofa, and started sneezing again. At this point, I was thinking there was no way that anything would take place. I spoke to him for a while, and my assessment of him was that he had severe and enduring mental health issues. This was not something that came across on the phone. I left, only to discover that two of my escort friends, who worked for escort agencies in London, had been to see him that day. He had chased them down the road.They had both mentioned this client, when we had coffee that evening. I came away from his house itching, and threw away everything that I wore.

I have only been stopped once at a hotel, since I have been escorting. It was a hotel on the Strand. I went to an outcall at about 3am. I tend not to go on late night outcalls these days, unless prearranged. Anyway, as I walked into the hotel, I had a long coat on. The little man on reception starts hollering "Madam, madam". I ignored him, walked straight to the lift, and saw my client. Two hours later, I came down to the lobby, and smiled and winked at the little man on my way out.

I have an Arab escort friend who has been asked to produce her passport,at some hotels on Park Lane, in London. I am surprised as she was taken to Arabia by some prince to live in a harem for a number of years. When these princes come to London for their holidays, she lives in these hotels for months, until they leave. The staff know her, so I don't understand it.

She has no problem showing her identity, I have never been asked for my passport at a hotel. The thing is, that I don't walk around with my passport in my bag, unless I am taking a flight. I am aware that there are some hotels that have this policy on Park Lane.

I used to have regular outcalls at a particular hotel on Park Lane, always after midnight. Whenever I walked in, I always bumped into a cleaner hoovering the carpet. I felt really awkward as she must have figured out what was going on. Such is life.

I heard of a case where the concierge at a hotel in Knightsbridge, literally runs down the corridor after escorts who come into the hotel, harassing them.

Fortunately, I don't have problems with hotel outcalls, as a Black escort in London.

It was not something that I gave much thought to. I have a side to my personality that is impulsive. I decided that I would give it a go one day, and did. I have found that it can be therapeutic, to put my thoughts down. I like the fact that I can write what I like, and noone can censor me.

I felt it was irrelevant, and did not post it. My policy on abusive comments, is that I am happy to post them, if they are not posted by anonymous commenters.

Steven Drew of Silk and Lace escort agency earned two million in a year from his escorts.

Silk and Lace is a visiting escort agency. The escorts were taken to bookings by drivers, and had to hang around at the office for the whole shift(twelve hours), until they were given a booking.

Steven Drew bragged about sampling the goods. This does not suprise me, there are a number of male escort agency owners in London who do the same.

I know someone who worked for this agency years ago, but she never mentioned that she had to sleep with the boss.

It is outrageous that out of a £120 fee, he took £70 and the escort was left with £50.

I wait to hear what happens at the end of his trial.

Tal Zohar was arrested in Israel for the escort agency he ran on the internet. The charges were for trafficking, pimping and exploitation. He cheated some of the girls of their wages. Israeli law enforcement seldom convicts pimps who operate virtual brothels or escort agencies.

The Hotline for Migrant Workers last month submitted a bill to the Knesset Subcommittee on Trafficking in Women, to amend the wording of the existing law prohibiting the operation of a business involved in prostitution to include virtual brothels.

The traffickers in women do their homework, learn the market and keep up to date. The law must also be updated. The law's current format allows for the trial of a person who operates a virtual brothel, but the proposed amendment stresses the severity of this type of whorehouse."

"The proposed amendment also states that not only are the owners or operators of a virtual brothel accountable to the law, but also the graphic artist and the site's content editor.

"This determination has a foundation in the existing law, according to which not only the operator of a regular brothel is liable, but also the cashier, the driver and the guard."

"It doesn't matter if you are only a graphics geek who once set up a site. If the woman you advertised is a victim of human trafficking, you must be accountable," says Levenkron.

Raw Angels escort agency advertised for dominatrixes at the Jobcentre in Gateshead and Byker.

The ad stated the escorts would be paid 200 pounds a shift, and training would be given. The owner said there had been a mix up, and the ad was withdrawn. Ten girls signed up, but some jobseekers were appalled that the ad was up alongside plumbers, factory workers and secretaries.

A spokesman for Jobcentre Plus said: Under the Employment and Training Act 1973 Jobcentre Plus is required to provide a service to both employers and job-seeking customers. We must therefore have strong legal reasons for refusing an employer access to our services

All vacancies, including sex industry vacancies, will be advertised by Jobcentre Plus as long as they are legal and providing in the case of the sex industry vacancies that they specify that applicants must be over 18.

It is entirely up to our customers whether they apply. If they do apply for a sex industry vacancy no sanctions will be applied if they then refuse to accept the job. If we do find out that an advertised vacancy is illegal we will withdraw it and take whatever other action seems appropriate.

I find the death of the Earl of Shaftesbury tragic. His widow Jamila M'barek who was an escort will serve twenty five years in prison, for paying her brother to kill him.

Catherine Gutler who owns an escort agency in Nice, walked up to the Earl's son at the trial. She handed him an uncashed cheque for 1279 pounds, and said she needed the money.

After being confronted with her sordid past by Madame Gurtler, Jamila shouted from the dock: “You’re a pimp!”

Madame Gurtler rep­lied: “Jamila is a bitch and I want to see her go to prison for life. She never loved the Earl. All she wanted was his money.” After being shown the personalised Drumm-onds Bank cheque, signed “Shaftesbury” and dated February 4, 2002, the 27-year-old current Earl – a New York DJ – listened politely to Madame Gurtler before she finally handed it to the family’s solicitor.

Madame Gurtler said: “Nick was polite and charming like his father. I’m confident I’ll now get my money.”

Later the court heard from another prostitute about the dead Earl’s unpaid sex bills. Cannes call-girl Rose-Marie Bioulaygues said: “I spent three days with the Earl. He paid me by cheque but it bounced.”

Winnipeg has opened the door to escort agencies setting up shop across the city. This is a change from the agencies being restricted to the downtown area. The Mayor's cabinet gave a review of the current regulations here.

The Deborah Palfrey case, is raising anxiety levels in D.C. I wait to see who will be outed next.

Is breaching confidentiality the only strategy if you are criminalised?

I think in some cases if too many heads will roll, an arrangement can be made. It does not seem to be the case with Deborah Palfrey, at the moment.

Now those rules of secrecy and survival are in the national spotlight as a woman accused of running a Washington prostitution ring fights back with her own weapon of mass destruction: a list that reportedly contains as many as 15,000 phone numbers of former clients, including high-level military officers and government officials.


The case has opened a debate among sex workers throughout the country about confidentiality, said Carol Leigh, director of the Bay Area Sex Workers Advocacy Network in California.

"It does impact the trust that is important between clients and sex workers," Leigh said.
Palfrey's claims that her business was legal are given little credence among sex worker advocates, but many of them wholeheartedly support her fight. With the potential to drag many power brokers into the spotlight, Palfrey's revelations could serve as a turning point in the effort to decriminalize prostitution, said Robyn Few, founder and director of Sex Workers Outreach Project U.S.A.

"It's a wakeup call," Few said.

Few said she served six months of home arrest several years ago after pleading guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to commit prostitution. She did not reveal the names of any clients, but said she supports Palfrey's actions.

"I think the woman is alone," Few said. "This is a very lonely occupation. We deal in a very isolated business and we have very little support, and now her finances have been cut off and she is facing total ruin.

"All I have to say to Deborah Palfrey is, `Go for it, girl,'" Few said. "If you can help me decriminalize prostitution in this country, then go for it."

Veronica Monet - who worked as a prostitute for 15 years and said she had sex for money with 1,869 clients - said she sympathized with Palfrey. Monet, now a California-based sex educator and author, noted that Palfrey served 18 months in prison on another prostitution charge about 15 years ago and never told any secrets.

Secrecy, Monet said, is important. But Monet said the federal government has pushed Palfrey to the edge.

"If somebody is out to destroy you, you have to fight back," she said.

Others disagree. Heidi Fleiss, the infamous "Hollywood madam" who served two years in federal prison on prostitution-related charges, said recently that Palfrey should have remained silent.

"I know she's probably being swallowed up alive, and a lot of people can't take that weight on their shoulders," Fleiss was quoted as saying Tuesday on the website www.radaronline.com, "but she's naming names, and that goes against my principles. I realized I'd sunk my ship, but I wasn't taking anyone with me."

ABC's website says Palfrey's potential witness list includes "a Bush administration economist, the head of a conservative think tank, a prominent CEO, several lobbyists, and a handful of military officials."

I have to say, I am feeling sorry for Randall Tobias. I expect some people in D.C are very anxious, waiting to hear whether Deborah Palfrey outs them.

Tobias submitted his resignation a day after he was interviewed by ABC News for an upcoming program about an alleged prostitution service run by the so-called D.C. Madam.

ABC reported on its Web site late Friday that Tobias confirmed that he had called the Pamela Martin and Associates escort service to have women come to his condo and give him massages. More recently, Tobias told the network, he has been using a service with Central American women.

Tobias, 65, who is married, told ABC News there had been "no sex" during the women's visits to his condo. His name was on a list of clients given to ABC by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, who owns the escort service and has been charged with running a prostitution ring in the nation's capital.

I can only think of two clients who came to see me, since I started escorting who did not touch me at all. In both cases, they were too nervous, and were happy to sit and talk. So, it is not impossible.

I just cannot understand, if this were the case with Randall Tobias, why he did not call a regular call out massage service. Then again, he may have wanted the women to massage him naked, which a masseuse would not do.

I read the article in the LA times about Jody Gibson's aka Babydoll disclosures. This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened.

When Hollywood madam Jody "Babydol" Gibson was busted eight years ago, word that police had seized her list of celebrity clients stirred intense curiosity in Hollywood — and not a little worry.

The much-anticipated disclosure of famous names never occurred, however. The evidence presented to the jury that convicted Gibson in 2000 of operating an international prostitution ring included phone books and other records in which, prosecutors said, she listed her customers. But authorities blacked out the names in publicly available court records.

Now, their identities are entering the public domain.

I knew this went on, but have never seen it in print.This is how some people choose to run their businesses.

I believe this is a slippery slope.

What you do is offer the girl a $250 tip after you've done your business. This is how you let her know what you're looking for and that you can pay for it. She won't come out and tell you that she's holding at first; she'll hint that for $250 extra, you'll be a happy man. Thirty of the $250 is an actual gratuity on the fuck; the other $220 buys you an eight ball of high-quality powder coke. Sure, that's expensive, even for good blow, but you haven't heard the best part. Seriously, this is going to fucking kill you:

PAID ADVERTISEMENT That's right: powder on plastic. She takes your card, puts it on this portable hand processor she carts around in her purse, places a carbon credit form over top and gives it a swipe. Then, she plugs it into the nearest phone jack and calls in your card to make sure it's good. Thirty days later, your statement comes back with a transaction from the discreetly named "Ludlow Clinic." It's the kind of name that might not raise too many eyebrows on an expense report. If you're a convention-goer, you might be able to talk your wife out of her concerns by assuring her of a late-night stop at an out-of-town pharmacy

Here's some simple arithmetic: $220 x 4 = $880 in one night. Maybe that much blow will last you a couple of days, but it doesn't take too long to burn down a $10,000 line of credit. And that's just the coke.

Once you've factored in all the fucks and tips, you're looking at some major financial damage. In fact, by the end of that ugly and out-of-control month and a half, John calls his favorite girl over and asks her for the standard $220 eight ball on arrival (it's out in the open by this point). One could say that cocaine and hookers are a classic combination. For a certain kind of man, they're like dinner and a movie, a regular staple of the entertainment diet. When you add credit to the equation, though, you add an unpredictable variable that a lot of guys can't control.

This is not one of those drugs that active users have an easy time walking away from at the end of the night. If there's more space on your credit card, and there's a naked woman dangling a baggy full of blow in your face and telling you to keep going, you're going to keep going.

So, what is this Ludlow Clinic that allegedly dispatches out-call girls with shoulder bags packed full of eight balls and credit card scanners to horny cokeheads in Center City? Is it part of a larger operation that supplies coke and hookers citywide? Are there similar operations working right now in other cities around the country?

The out-call girl with credit card capacity is old news, as are call girls who sell cocaine on the job. It was just a matter of time until escort services got ballsy enough to do both.

A little Web research reveals that the Ludlow Clinic is a storied Center City massage parlor that closes and reopens under a different name with every new Vice Squad crackdown. The oldest reference to it online is in this paper in an August 1995 article titled "No Mo' Hos." It detailed District Attorney Lynne Abraham's crackdown on brothels after the high-profile shuttering of a legendary Sansom Street brothel called Bella Feminina. In the story, an employee of what was then called the Gentleman's Retreat at 1800 Ludlow declined to comment on what went on there, but it was common knowledge that they offered a little more than the massage service they advertised.

What we have here is a long-established prostitution provider that may be paving the way for Philadelphia-area escort services with what is a larger, recent shift in the escort business model. The Ludlow Clinic is simply keeping step with the current nationwide convergence between escort services and drug delivery.

In an interview with the Independent News of Pensacola, one of the ring's prostitutes reported, "They pressure you to do illegal actions, things against your own beliefs. There was violence.
