Archbishop opposes bill to legalise brothels in Western Australia
Archbishop Hickey urges MPs to oppose the brothel bill in Western Australia.
He states that " There is considerable research evidence to show that males, and particularly young males, who use prostitutes have greater tendencies towards domination of women and violence towards them."
Can anyone point me to this research?

Notting hill carnival
I went to Notting hill Carnival yesterday, with some friends and their children.
The last time I was at Notting hill carnival, was six years ago. It was a nightmare tracking my friends down,as we could not hear each other on our mobiles, with all the noise. I suggest texts if you are trying to get hold of anyone at Carnival.
The weather was great, and I found a good sound system, while I was waiting for my friends. The DJ's were playing some good tunes,R&B,
Hip Hop
Bashment,
Soca,
Calypso and Jungle.
The vibe was great, and I am going back again today. Off to shake my fat ass.

Lost for words
I had a staff member call me yesterday, to arrange a meeting. She is paying her way through college. She called to update me on how things were,and was pretty stressed.Her fees for college have increased. She said that she did not know how she would pay her fees, and was considering becoming an escort.
Fortunately, this conversation was over the phone. I paused, and we both started giggling. She asked me what I thought about her becoming an escort. I told her that I was not there to judge, but it may be useful to share that with her course coordinator, so that he had some idea of what she was willing to do to raise her fees. I suggested that it may be something that she could bring up, at a students meeting.
More giggles. She thanked me for listening, and said she felt really comfortable talking to me.

Convicted working girls jailed if they do not attend counselling
Will jailing prostitutes help anyone?
It will act as a deterrent for some women,but I wonder what effect it will have in the long run.
I have my doubts about involuntary counselling. I wonder how it can be of use, when it is forced for sexworkers, and then there is a threat of imprisonment if they do not attend.

Weekend of Prayer for victims of Sex trafficking
The Salvation army and the CWA have called for a weekend of prayer for victims of sex trafficking.
Spare a few minutes to say a prayer for anyone who has been, or is in this situation.
On Tuesday Cambridgeshire police started Operation Radium, a total crackdown on Sex Slavery.It will focus on 100 brothels in Cambridgeshire.

Trying to survive a mad boss
I am so angry with one of my bosses. She is like a slippery snake.
I had a conversation with her last week, about some work that I had submitted. She gave me no indication that she was unhappy with my work.
Well, a few days later I get a phone call from her saying that she went to the board, as she was not happy with my work.
I was shocked, as I had no idea that she had a problem with it. I sent her a nasty email asking her why she was not upfront last week.She brought up stuff that had happened in the past, and I asked her why it had taken her three years to confront me.I was puzzled as she had never mentioned any of these issues during my appraisals over the three years. What is that about?
Her response was pure waffle.
I asked her to outline what her expectations of me were, and suprise suprise,more waffle.
I have no problems with her feedback. The issue for me is not so much what she has done, but how she did it.
This mad woman is chaotic, provokes anger in most people that work for her, and this is not the first time I have had to pull her up. The last time she apologised to me publicly.
I find it hard to let things go, that I feel are out of line. This is my struggle. I feel like telling her to stick her job at the moment, but have to wait until I find a replacement. It is so frustrating. However, I know it would be inconvenient for her if I was to walk out at the moment, and wish I could.

Olympic athlete manages to escape from traffickers
A network that imported Russian girls for trafficking to Spain has been foiled.The gang trafficked women to Almeira and the Canary islands. The olympic athlete had attempted to escape before, and failed. Second time round she was lucky.
The gang used the usual tactics, promises of jobs, which were sexual labour.
