Bloggers who bare all online

This is a great article on the value of privacy for bloggers.

I blog about parts of my life, and some stuff I do not wish to make public for obvious reasons. Some of my readers feel that I am not an open book, and I like it that way.

I think that you put yourself in a vulnerable position, making your whole life public, as mentioned in the article. The internet can be a dangerous place.

One reason I don't have a blogsite (apart from the fact no one would read it LOL) is that I would probably be too open.

I wouldn't want that. I value my privacy and would worry about having the right balance between an open chatty blog and not giving too much away. As a result, I tend to use other people's blogs and forums as a kind of "proxy blog". That way I can dip in and out without feeling responsible for a "site".

I can empathise with that vulnerable feeling too Nia. I feel that even with the more distant way I communcate via the internet. It doesn't seem to take much to get snotty responses does it; aside from the wierder characters out there.

I suppose you could describe me as a "parasitic blogger"

My blog is your blog, Jo's a couple of others and the Forums I post on LOL

So keep blogging please Nia.

GOM,

Thank you for your comments.

I think you would have readers if you started blogging.

I love your way of using other blogs, as proxy blogs, lol.

I do not consider you a parasitic blogger, lol.

I do not blog as much as I used to, but will let you know when I decide to stop.

The blog is my way of letting off steam, and yes perhaps sometimes I am a little too open, but that is me.

We all have our own "comfort zones" and find safety within certain limits.

Obviously I would not ever mention real names ( my own being Gladys paddlebottom) or addresses, but banter about my life is why I blog in the first place.

Jo,

Thank you for your comments. I agree, it is finding our own comfort zones. However, I think some people are not aware of how open they leave themselves, until it is too late.

Nia
Thank you for taking an interest in my blog as I do yours and for highlighting it.

I look forward to your posts and will continue to do so and appreciate your openess as you can see I am very open also.

If you would like the new password to my blog for updates please feel free to email me.

Along with my own thoughts on blogging privacy i was inspired by your post about online privacy to add a password script to mine.

Thanks again for the add

Avid reader DD xx

DD,

Thank you for stopping by. I think you are a lot safer with a password protected blog, if you write about your personal life.
